Noble Marine RS600 National Championship 2026 at Brixham Yacht Club - Runners and Riders

After all the adrenaline of Garda and Warsash a few months ago, it’s been a quiet summer but the RS600 Nationals are right around the corner. The fleet returns to Brixham Yacht Club in the wonderful English Riviera for some tight racing. Let’s have a look at who might be fighting for a place on the podium.

- Jamie Mawson: Won the 2026 Eurocup at Lake Garda and a previous national champion. Usually let down by his boat rather than skill. Hopefully he’s had words with it before this year's nationals!
- George Smith: Won last year's Nationals and just missed out on the Garda Eurocup title by countback… he’ll be hungry to fix that at the nationals. Last time we were at Brixham, George claimed his first RS600 title so he’ll be keen to add to it.
- Will Russell: Becoming a familiar face on the podium but can he take it a step further? His time on the water is down compared to previous years but he has broadened his experience jumping into different classes over the summer.
- Richard Bone: With years of skiff experience, going fast is no stranger to Rich. After last year's impressive performance at Mounts Bay, can he take it a step further onto the podium?
- Fresh Abendstern: Just off the back of winning the RS500 Europeans and Nationals (which was basically on the same bit of water), Fresh is definitely going to be one to watch. He’s spent a fair amount of time sailing down at Torbay this summer so his local knowledge might be slightly frightening.
- Tim Cutsforth: Just missed out on the podium last year (literally down to the last race), but showed some impressive pace at our last event at Warsash. Will this be Tim’s year to show us how it’s done?
- Jeff Chambers: After seeing his impressive starts at Garda, he’s one to watch on the start line. Even though I was convinced he was OCS in 2 of the races, it turns out that we were all just very line shy… Be more like Jeff.

There’s plenty of others to watch too, that’s just a taste of what’s to come in the coming days. After a few months since the last event, it will be great to see everyone together for some good fun on and off the water. Even if it’s your first RS600 Nationals, it’s a great way to learn tips from others and get some boat bimbling advice!
