RS600 � Gul Inland Championships Grafham Water Sailing Club The GUL Inland Championships hosted by Grafham Water Sailing Club saw good force 4 winds and sunshine with the winds dropping slightly on Sunday. The RS600�s sailed on a Trapezoid course with the RS K6�s on the Saturday and RS400�s on the Sunday. Race 1 saw the fleet split with both sides paying off with Jamie Mawson and Dave Nunn arriving at the windward mark together. Gareth Davies, Charlie Roome and Ian Marshall all soon over took them with the top 3 all very close through out with Gareth taking the first win of the day. Ian Jubb, made a guest appearance back in the RS600 after many years, managed a port hand flyer in race 2 only to find the other side of the beat paid off. Leaving Charlie Roome to go on to win. During race 3 we had a big rain storm and the wind increased clocking round to the right making the beat one sided. This caught Dan Dixon (National Champion) out completely on the wrong side of the beat, which finished his race. Jamie Mawson had gear failure with his rudder pintal breaking. Making way for Charlie to win his second race of the day. Race 4 saw Charlie Roome get another good start and was first to the windward mark, followed by Gareth and Jamie. Charlie went on to win his 3rd race comfortably. Race 5 saw Richard Leech, defending RS inlands Champion, made a good start and lead the whole race going onto win convincingly. Richard peaking to late in the event ended up 6th overall. Olly Straker, new to RS600�s this year sailing RS600 606 showed some excellent speed in race 6 getting a convincing lead up the first beat and going on to win.
