Results / GUL RS600 National Championship Looe SC - 07/09/2006

A better than expected fleet of 25 boats turned up at Looe SC, including many newcomers and numerous old faces for the GUL RS600 National Championship. The first day saw bright sunshine and a variable wind ranging from a shifty force 2 to 4. In race 1, Christian Reynolds rounded the first mark ahead of Jamie Mawson and Andy Heissig. This group, along with Ian Marshall marked the lead from the rest of the fleet. Reynolds, defended his lead while Mawson, Heissig and Marshall exchanged places. Reynold won with Heissig second, Marshall third, Mawson in fourth and John Charles finished in fifth. In race two Heissig led around the first mark followed by Reynolds, these two had broken away from the rest of the fleet with Doug Horner in third. Heissig was caught by Reynolds until Reynolds decided to remove some weed from his centreboard by capsizing. Reynolds managed to overtake Heissig again to win with Olly Staker finishing in third, Jon Powell in fourth and Ian Marshall pulled of a fifth after rounding the first mark in the mid teens. It was now back to the club for a superb buffet, with a commodore and Major�s welcome.
